Winter Scene, Dawes Arboretum

Through the years, Dawes Arboretum outside Columbus Ohio has been one of my favorite places to make photographs.

The Dawes Arboretum is dedicated to increasing the love and knowledge of trees, history and the natural world. Founded in 1929 by Beman and Bertie Dawes, The Arboretum was inspired by the couple’s love of trees and nature. Today we remain dedicated to our mission through providing exceptional educational programs and events as well as maintaining incredible horticulture collections on over 1,800 acres of beautiful ground.

I’m not sure whether it’s still true, but at one time Dawes had the longest hedge lettering in the world. This looks down on that lettering on a cold winter’s day.

This peaceful chair is in a flower garden not far from the visitor’s center. Every time I see this image, I want to go there and relax with a good book.
